Do You Know… the Benefits of Hybrid Lighting Solutions?

Mobile floodlights are mainly intended for a wide variety of applications such as special events, construction projects, mining operations, or even during the occurrence of an emergency. They provide solutions to many lighting challenges, allowing you to facilitate and operate even in zero light conditions.

Although conventional floodlights are capable of supplying a well illuminated and safe work area, but do you know they emit more exhaust fumes and produce more noise than its hybrid counterpart?

Here are 3 key benefits of Mobile Floodlight with Hybrid Power Supply Technology:

    Save On Operating Costs

Fuel cost is high on conventional floodlight because it is powered solely by a diesel power system, and when running non-stop for long hours, it will result in higher fuel consumption. On the other hand, hybrid floodlight uses a series of rechargeable batteries integrated by a diesel motor called “hybrid operation”, where the diesel engine only runs part of the time, and the battery takes over while the diesel engine is off.

Typically the diesel engine will only run for about 50% of the time or less, and for the rest of the time, the battery continues to provide illumination for your operations. It makes possible for the machine to operate for an extended amount of time at a minimum fuel consumption rate, which in turn will reduce your fuel costs and along with the reduced fuel consumption comes a corresponding reduction in truck refuelling – usually at a high cost for remote sites. Periodic engine maintenance will also be reduced because of the low run-time of the engine and by utilising hybrid floodlight; one can achieve significant savings in operating costs.

    Hybrid Floodlight Operating Sequence:

The system starts with a fully charged battery.

The battery powers the floodlights while the engine is off.

Once the battery reaches discharge level, the engine will start automatically to recharge the battery and in the meantime powering the floodlights.

When the battery reaches a 95% charge, the engine will turn off automatically, and the cycle repeats.

    The Green Factor

The burning of diesel fuel creates excessive CO2 emissions that are undesirable to the environment. These emissions cause more heat to be trapped into the atmosphere, leading to climate change; making our weather hotter and raising the sea level around us. With the hybrid operation, less CO2 emissions are emitted with reduced fuel burning process; helping you stay compliant with emission standards from the authorities and contributing to a sustainable future.

    Runs Without Noise

By reducing running hours of a diesel engine, you will significantly reduce the loud noise created by the diesel engine. Although floodlights have come a long way in sound reduction, it is nothing compared to the true sound of silence. When operating in battery mode, hybrid floodlight emits no noise when they are running, minimising disturbance to the surroundings and its occupants, at the same time allowing your workers to focus on the tasks at hand.
