Denyo Value: Samal Island, The Philippines
Samal Island is widely known as one of the top tourist destinations famed for its pristine beaches and incredible resorts that make for the ultimate tropical getaway. But due to an unfortunate event, a transport vessel has run aground off the island's coast and damaged the undersea power cables - from which the island draws its power.
This awful incident immediately plunged the entire Samal island into complete darkness, and the islanders desperately needed a solution as they relied heavily on tourism for living. The challenge of this situation was that it would take weeks or even months to restore power to the island. With this power outage, many beach resorts were not prepared for such a situation (e.g. owning a standby power generator) and may face with booking cancellations from potential tourists, which would affect their revenue severely. Read on to discover how Denyo’s values play a part in the temporary power relief – in the shortest time possible.
Bringing Reassurance to Islanders
Calling for immediate action, Denyo’s authorised dealer in the Philippines, Hastings Motor Corporation, was called in to provide portable power solutions to this dire situation. In response to the requirement, Hastings Motor Corporation quickly assigned manpower and deployed six (6) Denyo generators (DCA-1100SPM2, DCA-800SPK, DCA-600SPK) to Samal island, along with personnel from Denyo. With efforts from both parties, all Denyo generators were strategically placed, configured, and activated across the island – within ten (10) days from placement confirmation. During this period, personnel from Denyo and Hasting Motor Corporation went the extra mile to closely monitor the entire power system for any possible faults or hiccups to ensure power continuity.
It was a fulfilment as the Denyo generators had supplied power to Samal island for six (6) consecutive months – as the undersea power cables and permanent power facilities on the island were restored. The quick response and ability to deploy Denyo generators on short notice have helped Samal island salvage its tourist season and prevent further damage to its livelihood and economy, readily earning praise and gratitude from its inhabitants.
