The Challenge

Since 1982, MHI has constructed several Waste-to-Energy (WtE) plants in Singapore, which are connected to the national power grid. MHI understands the importance of reliable backup power in providing the necessary protection for humans, machinery, and systems when the national power grid fails to deliver power. To enhance plant safety during national power grid failures, a Denyo generator with SmartRMS system is added to the existing plant installation, ensuring that power supply to building services (e.g., lifts, fire alarm systems) operates with minimal interruption.

The Denyo Solution

MHI approached Denyo to supply Denyo SmartRMS technology, enabling better management of energy provision to building services. In view of the current power complexity that has been built within the WtE plant, MHI has specifically outlined one crucial requirement to Denyo – the newly added power system shall not interfere with or jeopardise the power system that is currently installed in place. Denyo has proposed a proven semi-auto system that is specially customised to meet the requirements. In addition, to enhance the system’s monitoring flow and improve the new power system’s reliability, numerous technical discussions were held with MHI to determine the best signal feedback protocol for the main control system, ensuring secure exchange of commands and signals.

Results

Following the command and control philosophy established by Denyo, full testing and commissioning have been carried out at Denyo facilities with zero failure. Denyo also follow up by providing full sales support after the completion of this project. With the addition of a Denyo generator and the SmartRMS system, MHI is satisfied with the outstanding services provided by the Denyo team.
